The Horatio Alger Association Reminds South Dakota High School Seniors of October 30th Deadline for Scholarships
State Scholarship Program Funded by MidAmerican Energy Company Foundation
(September 13, 2007 – Washington, D.C.) – The Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans reminds South Dakota high school seniors that the deadline for submitting applications for the 2008 National Scholarship and State Scholarships is Tuesday, October 30, 2007. This is a unique opportunity to gain the financial assistance that is so crucial for many seeking a college degree, and ultimately, a brighter future. Application forms can be found at http://www.horatioalger.org/scholarships.
Students who apply for the South Dakota scholarship, generously funded by the MidAmerican Energy Company Foundation for $5,000, are automatically enrolled in the application process for the National Scholarship of $20,000. There are two national scholars awarded from each state and 25 scholarship winners in the South Dakota program.
The Horatio Alger Association has become one of the largest need-based scholarship programs in the country and annually awards more than $12 million in college scholarships to U.S. high school students and military veterans. The scholarships are awarded to students who have demonstrated integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity and hardships in their lives while demonstrating strength of character, strong academics, commitment to pursue a college education and a desire to contribute to society.
