The Horatio Alger Association Announces Award Recipients for 2011 Guest Soprano Announced for the 'Ebby 100' Gala
Andriana Chuchman will join Tenor Mario Frangoulis, Dallas Symphony Orchestra as Entertainment for Horatio Alger Concert Event

WASHINGTON, February 3, 2011 – The Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, Inc. http://www.horatioalger.org is pleased to announce that Andriana Chuchman will serve as guest soprano for the Ebby 100, the Ebby Halliday 100th Birthday Celebration benefitting the Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans, Inc. http://www.ebby100.com/

Ms. Chuchman will perform with International tenor Mario Frangoulis http://www.mariofrangoulis.com and the Dallas Symphony Orchestra conducted by Albert George Schram during the live concert on March 9, 2011 at the Meyerson Symphony Center.

Chuchman’s successful career includes her debut last year as Yum-Yum in The Mikado at the Michigan Opera Theatre and the Lyric Opera Of Chicago. She sang the title role in Flora, an Opera at the Spoleto Festival USA. Her other notable US appearances include playing Valencienne in The Merry Widow atthe Lyric Opera of Chicago and in their productions of Die Frau ohne Shatten and Manon. Further, she has performed at the Ravinia Festival as a guest on the Prairie Home Companion radio show, a recital with the Dame Myra Hess Concert Series, and Handel’s Messiah with the International Music Foundation of Chicago. As a member of the San Francisco Opera’s prestigious Merola Program, she appeared there as Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro, Carolina in Il Matrimonio Segreto, and in extensive excerpts as Blanche in Dialogues of the Carmelites and Clorinda in La Cenerentola.

Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, Chuchman received her Bachelor's Degree in Voice Performance from the School of Music at the University of Manitoba. Tickets are now on sale for the spring celebration in which legendary Dallas entrepreneur and Horatio Alger Association lifetime member, Ebby Halliday, will be honored on the day of 100th birthday; March 9, 2011. Guests can purchase Concert Only tickets for the event at the Meyerson Symphony Center through the DSO box office at http://www.dallassymphony.com. Grand Tier Seats range from $150 to $250 and Dress Circle Seats are $500.

President George W. Bush and Mrs. Bush will serve as Honorary Chairs of the event. Former Horatio Alger recipients Roger Staubach, T. Boone Pickens and H. Ross Perot will serve as co-chairs. Steven Durham and his wife Barbara will serve as the event chairs. Steve is the son of the late Charles W. Durham, a Horatio Alger Member.

The goal of the Ebby 100 affair is to generate $1,000,000 to fund Horatio Alger college scholarships. The March event will also honor Horatio Alger scholars from Texas who have persevered through personal challenges and adversities to achieve the Texas Horatio Alger Scholarship. Prior to the concert, the scholars will share their Horatio Alger stories from the podium so that concert guests can learn more about the Horatio Alger mission at work.
