Jim Finnemeyer of Hatfield, PA is Appointed to Horatio Alger Field Director Network
Local Educator Selected to Represent Association

(June 11, 2008 – Washington, DC) – The Horatio Alger Association of Distinguished Americans is pleased to announce that it has appointed Jim Finnemeyer of Hatfield, PA to the position of Field Director in Pennsylvania. Horatio Alger Field Directors are education officials or community leaders representing all 50 states, Washington, DC and Puerto Rico, who serve as liaisons between their respective state and the Association, one of the largest need-based financial aid programs in the country.

"By identifying top individuals in our local communities to serve as Field Directors, they become a true extension of our organization," said Terrence J. Giroux, Executive Director of the Horatio Alger Association. "We are, therefore, confident in each of these directors to appropriately represent our organization to schools and to provide student referrals for our scholarship programs."

Horatio Alger Field Directors assist the Association with marketing and recruitment at local schools. They provide the necessary information regarding the types of scholarships and educational programs offered, including all details on criteria and eligibility. Their objective is recruiting the best and brightest students for the Horatio Alger scholarship programs. By promoting the Association’s unique opportunities within their community, they generate interest among educators, students and their families.

Field Directors serve a two-year term, which is renewable, and there are no limits on the number of terms that can be served.

The 60 newly-appointed Field Directors will gather in October 2008 in Williamsburg, VA at a national conference, where they will share best practices and strategize for future recruitment.
