Horatio Alger Special Concert Events in Omaha

Omaha High School Visits by International Tenor

Mario Frangoulis, an international tenor, spoke on behalf of the Horatio Alger Association to high school music students in Omaha prior to his three-day pop series concert November 7-9, 2008. Mario spoke to choir students at South High School and Central High School on Wednesday, November 5th. He described his international upbringing and his steady rise to success in the world of music. He explained his passion for music and how it has become his life and love. He advised the music students to seek out their dreams, work hard and inspired them to never stop being 'themselves.'

Evening Events at the Holland Performing Arts Center

The Horatio Alger Association, thanks to Nebraska Members and Life Partners, hosted three concert events at the Holland Performing Arts Center November 7, 8 and 9, 2008 to celebrate the Ak-Sar-Ben Scholars and raise awareness of the Horatio Alger Association mission. Chairman Walter Scott and wife, Suzanne, President David L. Sokol and wife, Peggy and the Charles W. Durham family hosted the weekend events, including a reception and dinner on November 7.

International tenor, Mario Frangoulis was the headlining performer with the Omaha Symphony Orchestra, along with Guest Soprano Sarah Lawrence. More than 90 Scholars from Nebraska were honored on Friday, and three scholars, Lindsay Marshall, Ben Sandy and Tyler Dohlman, shared their Horatio Alger story with the audience prior to the performance each night.
