When Thomas Millsop was 15, he went to work in a steel mill, earning 10 cents an hour. In his lifetime, he was away from the steelmaking industry only once, when he served with the Marines in World War I. He moved up in the ranks of Weirton Steel Company and became its president in 1936. He later became president of National Steel Corporation, the parent organization of Weirton, and served as mayor of the city of Weirton.* Deceased
